Hi. I’m a freak, a geek, a practical joker, a tomboyish princess and a sports addict. When I’m not watching sports, running, writing or frolicking, I’m busy playing domestic goddess, even inventing my own recipes. Oh, and on top of all that awesomeness, I have a superpower.
When you have a superpower like I do, with an abnormal degree of social photographic memory, mixed with spontaneous impetuosity, you either accept it and embrace the freakazoid you were meant to be, or you hide or try and become someone you’re not. Since I can’t be normal, yeah, I’ve tried and boring just doesn’t work for me, I pour that acquired info and strangeness into my writing. The memories of people I meet and things I experience live in my brain and serve as a constant source of inspiration.
The last awards I achieved for my writing were in high school. I haven’t won any contests of late. I entered ABNA, but my reviewers didn’t read my genre so they marked me lower, and said that was their reason. Maybe it’s this stagnant span of time without nods that gives me my drive for excellence, I’m not sure, but I want to be excellent. Not mediocre. Not sub-par. Not even good. Excellent. Oh, and I want you to be excellent too, so I can sometimes be bossy, pushy and opinionated as I cheer you on to do your best.
My quirky voice and addiction to genre blending and complex plots make my writing hard to classify. Even still, I’m now shopping the second book I penned. [The first is marked up with too much red pen and some coffee rings.] And I’m writing the sequel to my second book, which is 75% done. And I have two upper YA books cooking in my brain. It is my goal to have my sequel wrapped up by the end of the year, so I can move on to my other projects.
That’s who I am. And that’s where I’m at.
