Those of you following my blog Writer’s Lounge know that I am knee deep in my marketing experiment called May Marketing Mayhem. It’s an attempt at an all out blitz on trying to get visitors to my four blogs and two websites, Sybil Nelson and Priscilla The Great
To achieve this, I’ve opened Twitter accounts for both myself and my main character Priscilla. As of right now, I have 36 followers and Priscilla has nearly 300. Should I be offended by that? Anyway, on Twitter and Facebook I keep my followers and fans up to date on activity on my website and new Priscilla blog posts. As for Priscilla’s blog, Prissy Fit, I have a system for keeping it regular and upbeat. On Mondays, she features a lesser known band in a section she calls Music the Radio Doesn’t Play. She blogs about her favorite TV show of the week on TV Tuesdays. Then on Wallpaper Wednesdays, she gives out free desktop wallpaper. On Trailer Park Thursdays she features a movie trailer for an upcoming movie. And Fridays are for Freebies.
Check it out: Prissy Fit. Feel free to steal any ideas, just give a link back to my site.
So what has all of this done for me? Well the number of visits to both my sites have gone through the roof. For example, in the month of April, I averaged 43 visits per day to my personal site. So far for the month of May, I’m averaging 64 visits per day. Over at Priscilla The Great, for the entire month of April, I had 833 visits. As of May 10, I already have 1249 visits for the month. So it’s a definite improvement. Will this translate into me snagging a publisher? Not sure. But it can’t hurt to get my name out there, especially if I end up self publishing someday soon.
